INTEGRATED POST-COVID

2021 High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire

My aim was to establish an environment where lecturers and students could relax and reflect, especially in the aftermath of the pandemic. The pandemic has been extremely difficult for the majority and returning to work and education might make one feel anxious. Going back, I wanted to create a setting that connects and encourages people to communicate better in a more relaxed and happy manner.

CAPELA DOS SENTIDOS / 'CHAPEL OF SENSES'

2020 Algarve, Portugal

My Final Degree Project:
Capela dos Sentidos / ‘Chapel of Senses’ Based on the edge of a Cliff located in Algarve, Portugal. With a look out view by the sea and the sound of waves clashing. Dressed in Concrete the Chapel itself, the Cliff also includes an exhibition space below -1 level and exit to Balcony outside for a better view. Which represents abstract art inspired by the sound of waves, vibes of the sea and sun. Aswell as, Sophia de Mello Breyner selected poems, who was a Portugese writer and poet. All engraved within the Concrete wall.
The Chapel is made out of Concrete, with tinted glass ‘cut out’ through out the middle of the Chapel. The window cut out’s on both sides of the Chapel allowing natural lighting to enter and make one feel uplifted as they take a seat.
Lastly, involving the history of the site ‘Zavial Battery’ and the 18th Century ruins. (The remaing ruins are used as seating with a layer of dark grey wood, maintaining the history but also making use of it).
